UML LEADER KP SHARMA OLI FLIES FOR NEW DELHI

Kathmandu, 9 June: UML leader KP Sharma Oli, a critic of Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal , flew for a week-long visit of New Delhi for ‘medical treatment’ Thursday.
The Indian capital is a ‘pilgrimage city’ for Nepali political leaders at times of political crisis at home.

FURTHER DETAILS OF PRACHANDA SUB-COMMITTEE MEET

Kathmandu, 9 June: The Prachanda sub-committee Thursday decided to form three bodies to take up detailed discussions on three different themes on which differences persist, Laxman Lal Karna, a member of the sub-committee said.
The formation of the bodies will be discussed at the sub-committee meeting Friday, he said.
But NC leader Ram Chandra Paudel one task force will be formed Friday to discuss thematic differences.
Deep differences persist on federal structure, electoral processes and other issues.

SPECIAL COMMITTEE MEETS THURSDAY

Kathmandu, 9 June: The special committee on integration, resettlement and supervision of 19,000 plus Maoist former combatants meets later Thursday.
The committee headed by Prime Minster Jhalanath Khanal one day ahead of
the scheduled departure for 28 cantonments and satellite camps of a 126-member squad divided into separate groups
The teams will detail preferences of fighters for integration, resettlement or voluntary retirement.

JOURNALIST UNDERGOES NOSE SURGERY

Kathmandu, 9 June: Khilananda Dhakal, reporter of Nagarik, underwent surgery for a broken nose at a hospital in Biratnagar Wednesday.
He was assaulted by activists of Youth Force—a youth wing of UML leading the communist majority government.
Government has been charged for protecting activists linked with the party wing.
Dr. Jyotish Chandra Jha, treating, Dhakal, said the journalist will take one month to recover from serious injuries.

ONE KILLED, THREE INJURED IN KALIKOT TRUCK ACCDENT

Kathmandu, 9 June: One person died and three others were injured in a truck accident in Kalikot Thursday.
State-owned Radio Nepal didn’t provide other details.

GDP GROWTH WILL BE LIMITED TO 3,5 PERCENT WORLD BANK REPORT SAYS.

Kathmandu, 9 June: Nepal has received Rs. 181.84 billion in remittances in the first nine months of the current financial year while receiving Rs 231.17 billion through remittances in 2009/10, Global Economic Prospect June 2011 report of World Bank said.
Nepal experienced moderation in activity in early 2011, the report said.
Ongoing political uncertainty attached to the post-conflict transition to a new government has extended into its fourth year with law and order problems ,continued extensive infrastructure bottlenecks-- particularly widespread load shedding and unreliable power delivery—projected to limit GDP growth to 3.5 percent.

AVALANCHE KILLS JAPANESE;TWO OTHERS MISSING
Kathmandu, 9 June: A Japanese woman and her Nepali guide were killed after an avalanche swept them away while trying to scale Mt Nayagang in Langtang-1 of Rasuwa, The Himalayan Times reports.
According to Rasuwa District Police Office, Sutuko Masue Yoshida and Kumar Rai were killed at the base camp as they were trying to climb the 5,844-m mountain. “Records at Langtang National Park’s security post in Syapru show that Yoshida, Rai and two other Japanese nationals had registered themselves last Wednesday and had reached the base camp on Saturday,” said DSP Om Bahadur Rana. “Whereabouts of other two Japanese tourists — Hiteno Nobu Okubu (56) and Tamotsu — is still unknown.” A police team has been sent to the area. A rescue team from the Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu is also due to arrive, informed the police. Meanwhile, a Japanese woman, Makiko Iwafuchi (49), who had gone missing 12 days ago from Gosaikunda, has been found in a local cave. Locals informed the police after they spotted her in the cave. “Doctors say her health condition is normal,” said DSP Rana.
