NRB EXTENDS Rs. 500 MILLION SHORT-TERM LOAN TO VIBOR BIKAS BANK
Kathmandu, 10 June: Nepal Rashtra bank (NRB) Thursday decided to extend a Rs. 500 million loan to meet severe liquidity shortage faced by Vibor Bikash Bank.
An emergency meeting of the central bank took the decision to extend the loan under its ’lender of last resort policy’ for six months.
Rs,100 million was released Thursday at seven percent interest by NRB.

UN BODY SAYS ATTACK ON JOURNALIST ATTEMPT TO RESRICT FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION
Kathmandu, 10 June: United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Nepal (OHCHR-N) Thursday expressed serious concern over reports of attack and intimidation of journalists following a deadly attack of Khilanath Dhakal by activists of Youth Force, a youth wing of UML leading the communist majority government
The reporter of Nagarik daily newspaper is being treated for serious injuries sustained in the 5 June attack in Biratnagar.
The attack was an attempt to restrict freedom of opinion and expression, the office said.
Charges have been leveled Dhakal is being protected by the party.
‘Subsequent to this incident, a number of media persons associated with the Federation of Nepali Journalists, who filed complains regarding the attack on Dhakal, have received intimidating phone calls pressing to withdraw the first information report.
“I urge the authorities to take all the necessary steps to protect the right to life of media persons and secure the right of freedom of opinion and expression, in accordance with articles 6 and 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights,” Chief of OHCHR-N Jyoti Sanghera said in a statement.

ACHARYA BALKRISHNA CLEARED
Kathmandu, 10 June: Acharya Balkrishna,was cleared Thursday by Barelli district in Uttar Pradesh state of charges the top aide of Yoga Guru Baba Ramdeb traveled on an Indian passport.
Ruling Indian National Congress General Secretary Digvijya Singh charged Acharya was a Nepali criminal who travel on an Indian passport.
The top aide of the Indian yoga responded to the charge and said he was an Indian of Nepali parents.
