NEPAL MEETS JORDAN IN RETURN MATCH AT DASHRATH RANGASHALA THURSDAY

Kathmandu, 28 July: Nepal plays Jordan in a return match in the second round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at Dashrath Ranghasla Thursday.
Jordan trounced Nepal 9-0 in an away match in Amman.
Nepal climbed 13 places in the latest FIFA rankings at 136 leading South Asian region.

NEPALI GIRLS TO PLAY IN NORWAY CUP

Kathmandu, 28 July: Nepali girls footballers from Dolakha and Ramechap districts will play in Norway Cup 7 A Side foottball tournament in Oslo from 31 July to 6 August
Dolakha Football Association selected 11 players for the tournament.

COUNTDOWN FOR LONDON OLYMPICS BEGINS

Kathmandu, 28 July: The 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games begin one year from today, 27 July.
Vice President Parmananda Jha marked the start of the countdown at a reception at the British Embassy Wednesday, British embassy said.today.

Vice President Jha lit a butter lamp as a symbol of Olympic Flame while the British Ambassador, John Tucknott unveiled murals on the theme of the spirit of sport painted on the Embassy’s wall (pictures attached).

“One year from now, London will welcome the world at the start of a celebration of sport. The environmentally-friendly Olympic Stadium will be abuzz as Nepal’s athletes proudly parade the national flag in front of a global audience of billions,”
Tucknott said.

Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan, President of the Nepal Olympic Committee, said, “Nepal’s athletes are already looking forward to giving their best in London next year.”

Renowned Nepali sports personalities, including Olympians, were present at the event.
