SUSPENDED SP NARENDRA KUMAR KHALINGH SENTENCED,FINED

Kathmandu, 2 Aug.: Suspended SP Narendra Kumar Khaling was convicted and slapped a Rs 500,000 bail by a special court Tuesday for a CIAA charge of financial irregularities.Tuesday.
He was charged by the anti-corruption body for involvement in a Rs 280 million Sudan scam for acquisition of sub-standard armored personnel carriers for Nepal Police peacekeepers with UN peace forces in the north African state.
Suspended IGP Ramesh Chand Thakuri told the court politicians, especially home ministers. weren’t charged in a flawed action against only 34 police officers and two contractors.
Chand was released after paying a Rs 70 million bail.
One contractor has implicated Bangladeshi national Rubel Chaudhari, who is son-in-law of Sujata Koirala, daughter of Girija Prasad Koirala.
Chandhary left the country knowingly with home ministry permission before the court proceedings of the scam began.
The contractor is still jailed without settling a hefty Rs 150 million bail set by the court.
Retired IGP Om Bikram Rana has also been jailed for not settling a Rs 150 million bail.
The purchase contract was signed by Rana.
