TOURIST ARRIVALS INCREASE 24.3 PERCENT IN SIX MONTHS OF 2011

Kathmandu, 1 Aug.: Tourist arrivals jumped 24.3 percent in the first six months of 2011 until June end, Immigration Department at Tribhuvan International said Monday.
Altogether 289, 555 tourists visit the Himalayan state famed as an adventure tourism destination with eight of the world’s tallest peak., including the 8848 meters high Mount Everest.

NEPAL DEFEATS VANUATU IN WORLD CUP QUALIFLYING CRICKET MATCH

Kathmandu, 1 Aug: Nepal beat Vanuatu by 159 runs in a World Cup qualifying cricket tournament in Dublin, Ireland Monday.
Batting first after winning the toss, Nepal scored 250 runs for loss of all wickets in 49.3 overs.
Nepal bowled out Vanuatu for 91 runs in 30.5 overs.
Nepal earlier defeated Afghanistan and Kenya but lost to Scotland.
Sagar Pun and Naresh Budhayar hit 51 and 50 runs respectively.
