MADESH FRONT HOLDS TALKS WITH NC THURSDAY

SHER BAHADUR DEUBA, DR, BABURAM BHATTARAI HOLD DISCUSSIONS; OTHER DETAILS

Kathmandu, 18 Aug.: A five-party front of Madeshbadi parties is holding talks with NC Thursday as the main opposition has pushed candidacy of three-time Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba for a consensus candidate to succeed caretaker Jhalanath Khanal.
A consensus prime minister has to be elected by parliament by 21 August.
The front held talks Wednesday with UCPN (Maoist) which has pushed the candidacy of Second Vice-chairman Dr.Baburam Bhattarai
The front and Maoists concluded a national consensus should be formed without the coalition announcing direct support to UCPN (Maoist).
“Other parties have suspicious Maoists should present specific proposals and create an atmosphere for a consensus government,” Hridesh Tripathi of TMLP—a front constituent said Thursday.
Tripathi said a consensus government should be formed as past three majority governments failed to deliver a peace process and constitution in three years and three months.
Maoists and front agreed further talks should be held.
‘The Morcha should play an interventionist role.
We have not taken any firm position until There is no confidence between NC and Maoists yet. An atmosphere has to be created,” Tripathi said.
“We are in a position to stop an effort to form a majority government,” Tripathi said of the role the front could play in pushing a consensus government.
Maoists and NC held preliminary talks Wednesday evening of sharing the prime ministerial portfolio on rotation—an idea pushed by UML which isn’t fielding a candidate.
Deuba and Bhattarai held discussions Wednesday.

Kathmandu, 18 Aug.: Gold was traded for Rs.50,250 per tola Wednesday.
The price rose by Rs.750 in one day.
Gold price Tuesday was Rs.49.500.
Price rose mainly because of a rise in the price of the yellow metal in the international market.
Gold price has been fluctuating recently in the local billion market.

ICRA GETS PERMISSION TO BEGIN NEPAL OPERATION

Kathmandu, 18 Aug.: India-based joint venture ICRA received permission Wednesday from Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) to begin work as the first credit rating agency in Nepal.
A regulation allows only joint venture foreign agency to work in Nepal
ICRA in which Credit Information Center (CIC), Nepali Banks and Financial Institutions, Himalayan Infrastructure Fund and Nepali business people, have a stake in ICRA listed in Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange in India.

ROY DIAS OMAN COACH

Kathmandu, 18 Aug.: Roy Dias, former Nepal coach from 2001 to 2010, has been appointed coach of Oman national team, a Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announcement said.
“..I will focus on the system that I worked in—training the national team while working on building a solid supply line,” ACC quoted Dias as saying.
