MORE DETAILS OF DR. BHATTARAI ELECTION

Kathmandu, 28 Aug.: Dr. Bhattarai was nominated Maoist candidate for prime minister after an intense intra-party struggle to replace Chairman Prachanda as candidate to succeed Jhalanath Khanal.
Bhattarai pushed for power sharing charging Prachanda for power grab.
Prachanda protrays Bhattarai as pro-Indian in UCPN (Maoist0 where the engineer has attempted to create an image of a liberal in a party dominated by hard-line communists.
Bhattarai was incarcerated in a camp during the 10-year insurgency for differences with his party boss and his freedom was secured with Indian government intervention through mediators.
