Kathmandu, sSept.: Gurung said Prachanda and Premier Bhattarai bypassed a seven-member body to negotiate with parties to sign the four-point pact with five Madeshbadi parties.
“We were successful in foiling an Indian design to stop an agreement with Madeshsi,” Gurung quoted Chairman Prachanda as telling a party standing committee where the four-point agreement was raised.
‘Leadership didn’t give a clear and acceptable explanation,” the central leader as saying.
Gurung quoted Prachanda as saying ’Indian expansionists’ had split parties and ‘conspired and encircled’ them to get Ram Chandra Paudel elected.
The central leader said there was a body of seven members, along with the chairman, for dialogue; the team was empowered to drect the running of government.
“But at midnight the chairman and Baburamji reached an agreement with Madeshis. That came to light only the next day,” Gurung reveled.
The secret came to light only hours before the vote in parliament for prime minister.
The chairman revealed the agreement only orally.
‘The chairman left the briefing when asked to show a copy of the agreement,” Gurung added.
The agreement was distributed only the voting process for prime minister had begun.
‘There was no question of putting our candidate in a difficult position. But the chairman was told of some serious issues in the agreement later at night.”
