PM ASSURES ACTION AGAINST AGAIST RIGHTS VIOLATORS

Kathmandu, 11 Oct : Families of the martyrs, injured and disappeared met with Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai on Tuesday and demanded to constitute the disappeared commission, and the truth and reconciliation commission, RSS reports.

In the meeting held at the prime minister’s residence at Baluwatar, they also complained that the commissions were not constituted as per the spirit of the peace accord.
Bhattarai said the government was ready to take action on those violating human rights, said chairman of the Disappeared Fighters’ Families Society, Ekaraj Bhandari.

The PM said proper arrangement will be made for relief for the dependents of the martyrs, said Bhandari.

Bhandari said the PM admitted that the commissions were not constituted for lack of consensus among political parties.

Also a lawmaker, Bhandari said they demanded a lump sum as relief with the prime minister.

Takma KC from among martyrs’ families objected that no relief was given even after four governments of the republic.

After the meeting, she said the prime minister was positive on correcting the discrimination in relief to those families of the killed.

Bhagawati Pradhan of the Yoddha Paribar Samaj said immediate treatment and relief was demanded for the injured. Relatives of 200 martyrs, disappeared and injured families were present on the occasion.
