BIG THREE AGREE FOR CONSENSUS FOR AMENDING INTERIM CONSTITUTION

Kathmandu, 17 Nov.: The meeting of the three major parties held on Thursday to resolve the differences surfaced in relation to the 11th amendment of the Interim Constitution, 2007 concluded with an agreement to forge a consensus by tomorrow [Friday], RSS reports.

Emerging from the meeting, UCPN-Maoist Vice-chairman and Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai informed that the talks concluded on a positive note and expressed confidence of reaching to a consensus tomorrow.

Likewise, Vice-president of the Nepali Congress, Ram Chandra Paudel claimed that the amendment proposal would be approved by tomorrow and pledged to address the demands of all the protesting sides.

Similarly, CPN-UML politburo member Surendra Pandey informed that a committee would be formed comprising leaders from the three major political parties to prepare a report on the terms of reference, scope and jurisdiction of the Committee of experts.

Nepali Congress Central Member Arjun Narsingh KC said at the meeting today [Thursday] the Prime Minister proposed extending the term of the CA by six months and to table the Bill on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission at the Legislature-Parliament.
