INDIAN FOREIGN SECRETARY ARRIVING SATURDAY

Kathmandu, 26 Nov.: Indian Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai
arrives Saturday for his first two-day visit his first Nepal visit
after assuming office this year.
He arrives one day ahead of Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee who will sign a bilateral agreement to avoid double taxation.
The agreement couldn’t be signed during the just concluded
India visit of Prime Minister Balaram Bhattarai.
Mukherjee is also a point man for the Indian government to oversee the transition from monarchy to a republic.
The transition has again received a setback as another deadline to institutionalize will be missed 30 November.
Mukherjee arrived amid the delay.

UML CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEETS SATURDAY

Kathmandu, 26 Nov. UML central committee continues Saturday.
The party has to decide the duration of the extension of the
constituent assembly (CA)/parliament after 30 November
although the second biggest opposition has decided on another
extension.
