TASK FORCE ON FEDERAL STRUCTURE AND ELECTORAL SYSTEM SUBMITS REPORT

Kathmandu, 14 Nov.: A task force headed by Laxman Lal Karna submitted its report on a proposed federal structure to the Prachanda-led sub-committee to resolves disputes on themes to be included in a proposed constitution Monday, NC Vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel said.
The body also reported on an election system,
A federal structure will replace a unitary state.
The sub-committee meets again Thursday as further discussions are needed, Chairman Prachanda said.
Twenty-four contentious issues have to be resolved by the
sub-committee.
There was no agreement Monday.
Khim Lal Devkota (Maoist), Radheshyam Adhikari (NC), Agni Kharel (UML) and Sapana Malla representing small parties are other members of the task force.
November 30 is the deadline to complete the twin tasks of
promulgating a constitution and concluding the delayed peace process.

SAUDI ARABIA WON’T ACCEPT HANDWRITTED PASSPORTS

Kathmandu, 4 Nov.: Saudi Arabia won’t accept handwritten
passports issued to Nepali workers going there and their work permits wn; be accepted, Santosh Ghimere writes in Naya Patrika.
The Saudi foreign ministry has formally notified its embassy in Bangladesh. The embassy looks after Nepal as well and visas are issued by the embassy.
Machine readable passports (MRPs) have been made compulsory.
