SENIOR CHINESE TEAM ARRIVING SATURDAY TO PREPARE PM BHATTARAI CHINA VISIT

SENIOR CHINESE TEAM ARRIVING FOR A FOUR-DAY VISIT
Kathmandu, 5 Nov.: A high-level Chinese team headed by
Liu Qu, an influential politburo member Chinese Communist
Party (CPC) is arriving of member Saturday for a four-day visit.
Liu is also Beijing mayor and is considered as one of 10 op Chinese leaders.
He’s accompanied by top officials of government and party officials.
Forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai to
China will be discussed, foreign ministry officials said.
The Chinese team arrives later afternoon at 5 PM.
Meetings have been scheduled with Prime Minister Babumam
Bhattarai, Deputy Prime Minster and Foreign Minister Narayan
Kazi Shrestha, the foreign ministry said.
Premier Bhattarai is visiting China after concluding an
India visit.
A team headed by Zhou Yongkang , a standing committee of CPV, completed a visit in August and a Tibet military team also
arrives soon after Liu concludes his visit.
China wants to secure its Nepal-Tibet border by deploying armed police personnel to stop possible infiltration.

PM BHATTARAI VISITING GORKHA SATURDAY
Kathmandu, 5 Nov.: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai flies to Gorkha for a regular visit Saturday.
Bhattarai was elected to parliament from a constituency in the district.
The premier will inspect government offices, inspect development projects and exchange views with officials before flying back to the capital.

FINANCE MINISTER PUN WARNS STERN ACTION AGAINST VAT EVADERS
Kathmandu, 5 Nov.: Finance Minister Barshaman Pun on Friday gave indication that the government is considering stern action against businessmen involved in the tax evasion by using fake VAT bills, The Himalayan Times reports.

Speaking at an interaction programme in the Capital, Minister Pun said that government is being pressurised from various quarters including Constituent Assembly members for the same. He added that the government is taking the issue very seriously.

Stating that VAT evasion is a crime equivalent to fake currency notes, FM Pun vowed to adopt zero tolerance in the case.

He also stated that the government will not hesitate to punish those involved in VAT scam. He added that nobody will be spared from the consequences.

On the occasion, he also vowed to investigate the government employees for their possible involvement in the scam along with the business firms. He, however, informed that nobody has been found involved in the case so far.

Saying that the government made public the Inland Revenue Department‘s investigation report on the fake bill scam keeping in view the people´s right to information, he, however, made it clear that it will not disclose more reports citing the right to privacy on the issue.
