ARMY CHIEF HOLDS DISCUSSIONS WITH VISITING US GENERAL

Kathmandu, 5 Dec. : Army Chief Gen. Chatraman Singh Gurung held discussions Sunday with visiting Lt.Gen.Francis J.Wiercinski, Commanding General of US Army Pacific.
They discussed management of natural disasters and relief, training, assistance and issues of bilateral interest.
The general arrived for a four-day visit Saturday.
Ambassador Scott H.DeLisi was present on the occasion.

PARLIAMENT’S PAC ASKS FOR DETAILED EXPENDITURE FROM GOVT. BODY ACCUSED TO WIDESPREAD OF GOVT. FUNDS TO FINANCE MAOIST UNEMPLOYED YOUTH

Kathmandu, 5 Dec.: Parliament’s public account committee (PAC) Sunday asked Youth and Small Enterprises Self-employment Fund to furnish detailed expenditure details to it within one week suspending widespread irregularities in disbursement of funds.

Youth activists of UML have launched a campaign accompanied by street protests alleging misuse of billions of rupees in donor money to fund Maoist activists.
Activists have called a Valley bandh Tuesday.
Maoists countered UML charges and Sunday said the second largest party now in the opposition misused funds of the body when UML controlled the finance ministry when the government was led by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, a senior UML leader.
Surendra Pandey was finance minister in that government.
UML organized violent demonstrations against Maoist Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun when he returned home from South Korea Sunday at TIA and vandalized two government vehicles.
