MAOIST CHIEF MEETS PLA COMBATANTS OF SHAKTIKHOR

Kathmandu, 23 Dec.: Maoist Chairman Prachanda Friday
interacted with representatives of former PLA combatants at Shaktikhor camp in Chitwan.
He held discussions with them one day after military
commanders loyal to dissident First Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya demanded immediate release from 28 camps and cantonments with total settlement of their golden handshake.
The demands were presented in the capital Friday.
Demands have been made amid widespread dissatisfaction in
the PLA as some of the former commandments demanded expenditure of monthly dole provided to them through government.
Five European states have been contributing money to the former fighters through a peace fund managed by government.
Maoists have themselves accused the party of widespread financial irregularities.
