Kathmandu, 23 Dec.: A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court (SC) on Friday against the government decision to recruit 3,000 youths from the Madhesi communities into the Nepal Army, RSS reports..

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on December 20 had approved 3,000 quotas in the Nepal Army in its bid to recruit youths from Madhesi, dalits and marginalised communities.

Treasurer of the Chure Bhabhar Rastriya Ekata Party, Hari Prasad Pokhrel, filed the writ at the SC citing that the cabinet decision was against the interim constitution and Nepal Army Act.

Pokhrel has demanded the decision be scrapped through certiorari order stating that the government decision to recruit 3,000 youths from particular castes and communities has violated the principle of inclusion and rights to equality despite the constitution treats all people equally.
