18-PARTY MEET THURSDAY

Kathmandu, 16 Feb.: Eighteen parties are holding consultations Thursday.
The meeting is sponsored by main opposition NC.
The parties in opposition will discuss current issues.

CONSTITUTIONAL COUNCIL MEETS THURSDAY

Kathmandu, 16 Feb.: A constitutional council meeting chaired ex-officio
by Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai is being held meet Thursday.
The Election Commission has been without a chief for three years,
Heads of other constitutional bodies like CIAA and Public Service Commission haven’t been appointed by Bhattarai and his predecessors as major parties push
appointment of their candidates and lackeys.
The Bhattarai government has for the first time sought applications from aspirants for appointment.
Chief of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) was elected by the Maoist-led government through such process but he resigned alleging ministerial interference in the public enterprise.
His replacement hasn’t been named as yet.

14-MEMBER CRICKET SQUAD-ANNOUNCED FOR UAE
TOURNAMENT

Kathmandu, 16 Feb.: A 14-member squad was announced Wednesday by Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Wednesday
for ICC T20 Qualifiers being hosted by UAE in March.
There are two new faces in the team.
Krishna Karki and Chandra Saud have been included in
the national team for the first time; Paresh Lohani and Shakti Gauchan have been recalled
Paras Khadka will lead the team.
Other members of the team are: Gyanendra Malla,
Sharad Vesawakar, Prithu Baskota, Mehboob Alam,
Anil Kumar Mandal, Sanjam Regmi, Amrit Bhattarai,
Basanta Regmi, and Pradeep Airee.
Nepal is placed in Group A and will play Hong Kong
13 March
Nepal and Denmark meet one day later 14 March and will play Papua New Guinea
1 March, Afghanistan 16 March, Bermuda 18 March, the
Netherlands 19 March and Canada on 20th of March.
Four top teams will play in the ICC T20 World Cup.
