COMMUNIST RULE
Kathamandu, 20 Feb.: Vice-president of the Nepali Congress (NC), Ram Chandra Paudel on Monday said that the government attempt to skip formal celebration on the occasion of Democracy Day was a ploy to impose communist regime in the
Country, RSS reports.
Emerging from the meeting of the Dispute Resolution Subcommittee under the Constitutional Committee (CC) held today, Paudel said such National Days observed for decades could only be overshadowed after establishment of communism in the country.
He said Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai who was also present at the meeting was interrogated about the government decision not to mark the Democracy Day and the PM assured that discussions will be held to determine the National Day.
"To escape formal programme on the occasion of the Democracy Day manifests government´s ill-intention to impose unitary regime," Paudel added. Till last year, the government was marking Democracy Day on Falgun 7 in to commemorate the end of 104-year-long oligarchic Rana regime.
Paudel said, "This is unfortunate to undermine the Democracy Day. The single-largest party in the Constituent Assembly (CA) is conspiring to omit the history of this
day."
