MAOISTS DEMAND ONE OPENING FOR BRIGADIER GENERALIN NEPAL ARMY

Kathmandu, 19 Feb.: Maoists standing committee meeting Sunday demanded one opening for their former PLA fighters in Nepal Army )(NA) along wt mass integration of 6,500 fighters.
‘There’s been no change in previous party policy, “ said Secretary CP. Gajurel
after a standing committee .meeting.
The Maoist reaction came after NA said a major would be the highest opening for former fighters in NA where former PLA would be integrated individually and not en
masse.
Integration to complete the peace process can’t move ahead without meeting the demand, Gajurel said.

UPDATE OF DEMOCRACY DAY CELEBRATIONS

Kathmandu, 19 Feb. RPP-Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa held a reception to mark 62nd Democracy Day Sunday.
Nepal Army celebrated the say as Army Day.
There was no government function to celebrate the occasion.
Main opposition NC criticized the Maoist-led government not ignoring the day.
But the party’s President Girija Prasad Koirala who led the government after the frs t government after toppling the oral regime established by King Gyanendra for
three years first started undermining the significance of the day.
“Prajatantra” was a bad word replaced by ‘loktantra”
The party Sunday conveniently forgot this Sunday while criticizing the government for not celebrating a historic day.

GUJARAT CHIEF MINISTER TO ATTEND CIA MEET

Kathmandu, 19 Feb.:. Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will
attend the annual meeting of the of Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI)
to be held in last week of March in the capital, A CNI announcement said.
He’ll be the keynote speaker at the CNI meet.
