Kathmandu, 27 Feb.: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai said the deadliest bomb blast in the Nepali capital Monday afternoon at one in the
afternoon [not 9 AM as earlier reported] was ‘terrorist in nature’.
He said the bombing that killed three persons and injured several
others was an act of’ counterrevolution; designed to ‘foil the peace and constitution drafting process’ over Radio Nepal.
He said a government probe body had been formed to investigate th bombing
The home ministry formed a four-member police probe team headed by DIG Upendra Kant Aryal attempting to minimize the bombing.
Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachedhar said the blast laws a ‘challenge to security’ and assured compensation to
families of the dead and added government will meet costs of the
injured.
A reinforcement of security was ordered following the blast aimed at causing extensive damage and casualties carried out by remote control devise by expert hands at the peak office hour when offices are crowded around Babar Mahal.
Opposition UML called the bombing ‘dastardly and terroristic’ and charged government for failure to provide security.

PM BHATTAAI SAYS HE WON’T LEAVE FIELD AMID CALLS
FOR RESIGNATION

Kathmandu, 27 Feb.: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai reiterated to
his Radio Nepal listeners Monday evening he won’t resign amid widespread calls for resignation/.
‘I am not a person to leave the field ad won’t leave it until constitution and peace processes are complete.’
He asked critics not to demand his resignation and asked critics not to press his demand without a ‘clear alternative’ in place.
The euphoria created by Bhattarai’s nomination five months ago has
died down and demands for his resignation have welled lately.

PM AND GOVT. ASK TEACHERS TO WITHDRAW STRIKE UPDATE

Kathmandu, 27 Feb.: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and government Monday asked teachers to withdraw their two-day strike pressing professional demands
The strike closed down schools nation-wide.
On behalf of the government, Education Minister Dinanath Sharma
Asked teachers of community and private schools to resume work saying an education act will be amended to meet demands.
