DISMISSAL OF AGRICULTURE MINISTER DATTA CREATES FURTHER DISSENSION IN PARTY

Kathmandu, 27 March: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai Monday night sacked Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Nandat Kumarr Datta of MJF Ganantrik on the recommendation of recommendation of nine majority members
in the parliamentary party
A scuffle broke out at the meeting to elect the leader to replace Jayaprakash Prasad Gupta who has been jailed following conviction by supreme court of corruption charges
Dutta is the second minister to be sacked by Bhattarai in less than a seek days and they are Madeshis at a time when calls are increasing from the Madeshi camp for withdrawal from government
Bhattarai nd Maoists have been charged for not implementing a 4-point agreement between the party leading the government and a coalition front; the agreement pushes regional demands opposed in the Maoist camp and opposition parties.
The resignation also highlights deep differences in the party following the conviction of Gupta, who was communication minister.
The Office of the Prime Minister noted the party didn’t recommend Gupta’s replacement when asked for a cabinet reshuffle when Sarita Giri was dismissed as Labour Minister, last week.
Minister Without Portfolio RajLan Yadv, also from Gupta’s party, denied the MJF Loktantrik decided by a majority vote in the parliamentary party to recall Datta.
“The decision to recall him by the acting chairman without discussion in the party is illegal,” said Yadav.

POLICE PROBING ANOTHER OFICER FOR HOMIDICE CHARGE

Kathmandu, 27 March: After the death Monday of his wife Ramila following alleged battering 18 March , police registered homicide charge against ASI Punya Prasad Niraula.
She died while undergoing treatment for injuries
Niraula, posted at the National Investigation Department in the capital, had gone missing after the incident but was arrested 18 March.

POLICE GET BREATHALYSERS

Kathmandu, 27 March: Police finally have acquired breathalysers from China to test persons behind the wheel for drunken driving.
Police launched mainly in the capital a campaign to discourage an control drunken driving without the help of equipment.
Such a drive was faulty and causing moderate drivers inconvenience
