NEW NATIONAL SECURITY POLICY FLOATED
Kathmandu, 4 March: A meeting of the National Security Council held today has decided to amend in the draft of the national security policy prepared by the previous government and forward it to the Constitutional Committee (CC) with some
Recommendations, RSS reports.
This is the first meeting of the Council after Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai assumed the top executive post some six month ago.
As per the decision, security experts will be consulted and necessary amendment will be made to the draft of the national security policy.
The meeting concluded that strengthening of security provision was indispensable through the formation of the Council by determining its term of references in the new constitution, Minister for Physical Planning and Works Hridayesh Tripathi said.
Tripathi said the meeting also dwelt on democratisation of the Nepal Army and present security situation of the country.
Earlier, State Affairs Committee (SAC) of the Legislature-Parliament had sent back the report to the Council, citing amendment to the national security policy was needed.
Prime Minister and chairman of the Council Dr Bhattarai, other members of the committee including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, State Minister for Defence Ram Bachan Yadav, Chief Secretary Madhav Prasad Ghimire, Defence Secretary Madhav Prasad Regmi, Home Secretary Sushil Shumsher Rana, Chief of Army Staff Chhatra Man Singh Gurung, Inspector General of Police Rabindra Pratap Shah, Inspector General of the Armed Police Force Shailendra Kumar Shrestha and Chief of National Investigation Department Moti Gurung were present in today's meeting.

RHINO KILLS ONE PERSON IN NAWALPARASI
Kathmandu, 4 March: An elderly man who was strolling on the bank of the Narayani River here was killed in a rhino attack on Saturday evening, RSS reports from Kawasoti.
Seventy-year-old Chhannuram Mahato of Kolhuwa, Nawalparasi sustained serious injuries after he was gored by a rhino while taking a stroll. He died at the Madhyabindu Hospital.
