PM’S ONLY CHILD WITHDRAWS FROM CRICKET BODY WHERE SHE WAS NOMINATED
Kathmandu, 17 March: Following a controversy over the appointment to Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), Manusi
Yami Bhattarai, the only child of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai withdrew from the association.
She announced the decision in a statement Saturday. The appointment by National Sports Council (NSC), the supreme national sport authority, nominated her.
NDC said it is empowered to appoint two members to associations and Yami was one of two choices.
Her nomination was announced the same day Prachanda’s son got a Rs 20 million government dole to climb Mount Everest this spring.

Yami denied her father influenced her nomination defended by NSC.
He charged her father was being dragged into a controversy.

EU TEAM IN NEPALWHEN OBSTACLES HIT PEACE PROCESS
AND CONSTITUTION DRATING
Kathmandu, 17 March: A three–member delegation is in town for a four-day visit at a time when the
peace and constitution processed have hit obstacles.
Managing Director for Asia and Pacific in the European External Action Service (EEAS) Viorel Isticioaia-Budura is leading the team.
The delegation will hold consultations with leaders of major political
parties.
“We are very pleased to be here at a time when Nepal is preparing to embark on an important journey of peace, stability and progress," Isticioaia-Budura said upon his arrival on Saturday.
Two other members of the high level EEAS delegation are Jean Christian Remond, Head of Division India-Bhutan-Nepal Ms Rensje Teerink, Deputy Head of Division India-Bhutan-Nepal.
