PORTAL INVEST NEPAL LAUNCH TO ATTRACT INVESTMENTS
Kathmandu, 2 March: In a bid to lure more and more investors from country and abroad, an information center (Portal: Invest Nepal) is being launched from the beginning of the next fiscal year, RSS reports.

The government has already decided to mark 2013 as the investment year and also formed the Investment Board to bring in more investments in Nepal to generate more employment opportunities and pave a way to economic development.

The center would be launched with the initiative of the government and Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI). Entire information about investment and investment sectors in Nepal will be made available and it is expected to help in implementing one-door policy in foreign investment, Director General of CNI, Meghnath Neupane said.

Information regarding the investment in energy, town development, agriculture, handicraft, fruits, and herbs, among other sectors will be disseminated through the center.

NO ETHNIC FEDERAL PROVINCE SAYS NC LEADER KC
Kathmandu, 2 March: Nepali Congress Central Committee (CC) member Arjun Narsingh KC has said it would not be acceptable if new constitution was promulgated keeping (UCPN) Maoist combatants and weapons in the existing state of affairs, RSS
reports from Nuwakot.
Speaking at the Bagmati Zonal gathering of Nepal Press Union on Thursday, leader KC claimed, “A force with weapons and combatants could never be a political party.”
The country has witnessed instability when Maoists did not implement the seven-point deal, KC said, adding that other violent groups are taking advantage of this inaction.
Nationality of the country should not be divided in the name of ethnicity, he noted, claiming, “A complicated situation will emerge in the country if the state is federated based on ethnic line.”
Central council members and chairpersons of Nepal Press Union, Chapters in Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Dhading, Sindhupalchowk, Kavre, Dolakha and Ramechhap are present in the gathering.
Meanwhile, Co-chairperson of Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) Prakash Chandra Lohani has said the peace and constitution-writing processes have seen uncertainty due to dispute among three big parties.
At the computer handover programme organized at Suryamati Higher Secondary School in Madanpur on Thursday, leader Lohani further said it has been a challenge for the political parties to deliver new constitution in the stipulated time.
Role of all political parties will be crucial for the construction of Kathmandu-Chhahare-Tokha tunnel way, he said, hoping that it would contribute to the development of entire district mostly the beautiful plains.

REVENUE COLLECTION UP 19.3%

Kathmandu, 2 March:
Kathmandu, 2 March: The government has collected Rs. 128.47 billion as revenue during the first seven months of the current fiscal year 2011/12, The Rising Nepal reports.
This revenue mobilisation is 19.3 per cent higher than the one collected in the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Finance.
The ministry informed that the government has been able to achieve about 98 per cent of its revenue target for the first seven months of the current fiscal year.
During the review period, the revenue collection from the customs duty, VAT, income tax and excise duty stood at Rs. 22.81 billion, Rs. 39.88 billion, Rs. 26.22 billion and 16.85 billion, respectively.
Similarly, revenue mobilisation under the headings of registration fees, vehicle tax and non-tax revenue were Rs. 2.9 billion, Rs. 2.22 billion and Rs. 18.29 billion, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance on Thursday organised a meeting to review the revenue mobilisation in the first seven month of the current fiscal year.
The review meeting, which was attended by the Minister for State of Finance, the economic advisor to the ministry, Finance Secretary, chiefs at the various departments under the ministry and high level officials at the ministry, has taken the revenue mobilisation progress satisfactorily.
On the occasion, State Minister Hari Khewa Limbhu instructed the government officials to work towards achieving the revenue targets.
Finance Secretary Krishna Hari Baskota directed revenue officials to focus their efforts on collecting revenue dues, clearing arrears and evaluating taxes on international trade.
During the meeting, chiefs at the different revenue departments and offices shed light on the revenue mobilisation progress under their offices.
