GOVT. ASKED NOT TO WITHDRAW BILLON DISAPPEARNACE GOVT. ASKED NOT TO WITHDRAW BILL ON DISAPPEARANCE Kathmandu, 28 April: The Government has been urged to take back its recent decision of withdrawing the Enforced Disappearance (Offense and Punishment) Bill from the Parliament, RSS reports. A delegation of the Society of families of the people disappeared by the State, Nepal called on Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai and urged him to take back the decision. In response, the Prime Minister gave assurances of taking necessary initiative to address the Society’s demand, said Society Chairman and CA member Ekraj Bhandari quoting the Prime Minister. The Society has said that its serious attention has been drawn towards the recent agreement among the political parties to merge the bills related to the formation of the truth and commission and commission on enforced disappearance, especially in the context when a bill related to making public those people disappeared during the conflict is under consideration at the Parliament. The Society urged the Government to immediately withdraw the decision and initiate a process for passing the Bill from the Parliament. nnnn
