NEW EFFORTS TO INTRODUCE TRANSPARENCY GOES OFF SMOOTHLY AT PASHUPATINATH FIRST DAY SUNDAY

INTEGRATION WON’T BE COMPLETED BY 12 APRIL

Kathmandu, 8 April: An agreement between the Big Three to complete
integration of former Maoist fighters and related work won’t be completed
as agreed 12 April.
NC leader Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat said this after a meeting of a special
committee for integration chaired ex-officio by the prime minister Sunday.

TRANSPARENCY AT PAHUPATINATH TEMPLE

Kathmandu, 8 April: Devotees for the first Sunday dropped donations into
boxes at Pashupatinath Temple as Bhattas and Bhandaris at the holiest
Hindu shrine
The Maoist-led government through the Pashpatinath Area Development
Trust (PADT) introduced efforts to make the management of offerings transparent.
Chief Bhuttas, Bhattas and Bhandaris of the temple were pit on salary for the first time from Sunday.
First reports indicated, the new effort didn’t meet resistance.
Maoist move to replace the traditional Bhatta with a Nepali Brahmin during the Prachanda-led regime backfired amid opposition from home and India.
The priest was a Prachanda relative.
