PM DISCUSSES MAOIST COMBATANT INTEGRATION WITH
INDIAN ARMY CHIEF UPDATE
Kathmandu, 5 April: Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and Chief of the Indian Army, General Vijay Kumar Singh, held a meeting at the Prime Minister's Office in Singha Durbar, on Thursday. The Indian Army Chief is currently on a
visit to Nepal, RSS reports.

After the meeting with the prime minister, Singh said he came to visit Nepal with an objective to further strengthen the friendly relations between Nepal and India.

He also said that during the meeting he assured Prime Minister Bhattarai that the India was ready to provide support in any prospective topics of mutual interest between the two neighbouring countries.

Prime Minister's press advisor, Ram Rijhan Yadav, informed that on the occasion discussions were also held on the ongoing peace process as well as the constitution-writing in Nepal.

In the meeting, the prime minister informed the Indian Army Chief Singh that the Maoist combatants were being consigned to the Nepal Army's responsibility within April 12 under the ongoing peace process, Yadav added.

According to Yadav, Chief of the Indian Army, V. K. Singh took the army integration process as a positive more and expressed his confidence that the integration process would play an important role in establishing peace in Nepal.

General Singh is also the Honorary Chief of the Nepal Army.

CHINESE WOMEN DELEGATION INTERACTS WITH WOMEN CA MEMBERS
Kathmandu, 5 April: A visiting high-level Chinese delegation held discussions with women members of the Constituent Assembly (CA) on Thursday, RSS reports.

The delegation led by Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, Chen Zhili, briefed about the participation of women in different government bodies in China.

It is said that a total of 40 per cent women are in government service in China.

Vice-chairwoman of the Constituent Assembly, Purna Kumari Subedi, led the team of Nepali women lawmakers in the discussion.

Quoting the Chinese delegation, Joint-secretary at the Parliament Secretariat, Bharat Gautam said that the Chinese delegation remarked that empowerment process of Nepali women has been gradually and satisfactorily moving forward.

During the discussion, stress was laid on the need of both countries to coordinate on achieving women empowerment.
