NEPAL’S FUTURE INTERTWINED ONLY WITH DEMOCRACY SAYS US DIPLOMAT UPDATE
Kathmandu, 5April: Visiting US Department of State Under-Secretary for Political Affairs, Wendy R. Sherman, called on Prime Minister Dr. Babauram Bhattarai at the latter’s office in Singha Durbar on Thursday, RSS reports.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Dr Bhattarai urged the US State Under-Secretary to increase the US investment in Nepal, said Prime Minister’s press advisor Ram Rijhan Yadav.
The Prime Minister on the occasion also apprised Sherman about the ongoing peace and statute drafting processes and informed her that the twin tasks have reached to a final stage, Yadav further said.
Yadav quoted Prime Minister as saying that the country will move towards economic development after the completion of the peace process and constitution-drafting and the US cooperation to that end is inevitable.
Emerging from the meeting, State Under-Secretary Sherman commented that her meeting with Nepal’s Prime Minister was positive and also expressed confidence that the ongoing peace process and constitution-drafting will get a final shape soon.
Nepal’s future lies only on democracy, she said, adding that she was impressed with the developments on the peace and statute-making processes of Nepal.
