PM BHATTARAI ALLOCATES MINISTRIES CABINET MEMBERS Kathmandu, 19 May: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai Friday allocated ministries to newly appointed ministers from NC, UML and fringe parties in a national consensus government. NC and the UML didn’t send additional representatives to government although they had been allocated four ministries each. NC General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula, who holds deputy prime minister’s portfolio, was given charge of the defence and law ministries. Another Deputy Prime Minister and MJFL Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachedhar was in charge of the defence Ministry. Gachedhar held the post after Sharat Singh Bhandari, a Pahadi, after being forces oyt of government in Madeshis in the party. Second NC member of government Surya Man Gurung was given charge of Local Development and Federal Affairs and General Administration. Another Deputy Prime Minister and UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel was appointed foreign minister to replace Narayan Kazi Shrestha from UCPN (Maoist). Pokhrel also took charge of youth and sports ministry and energy Ministry while Radha Gyawali (UML) was given charge of agriculture development ministry. They were first sent to the ministry ad energy and education ministers. NC and UML expect a change in government after a constitution is promulgated by 27 May. Maoist Ministers Barsha Man Pun and Dina Nath Sharma continued as ministers of finance and education.
