CHITWAN HEALTH WORKERS RESUME WORK UPDATE Kathmandu, 17 July: : Hospitals in Chitwan district which were closed for three days at the call of local health professionals have reopened from today. Agitating health professionals here have agreed to bring the medical services back into operation, following a three point-agreement reached with the local administration this morning. The local administration here has agreed to implement the Healht Institutes Security Act- 2066 BS. The Act has a provision of a stringent action into a case related to an attack on health professionals and mishbehaviours with them in course of the treatment. The Act has also recommended an action against those health professionals found working with an ill-intention. Besides, an agreement has been reached to take action against those found guilty in recent attacks on doctors and health workers in the district, said Nepal Medical Association, Chitwan secretary Dr Krishna Poudel. Chief District Officer Himnath Dawadi and Association's Chairman Dr Bhola Rauniyar singed on the agreement on behalf of thier respective capacities . The Association has warned of launching an agitation again if the agreement was not implemented within the next 10 days. Of late, attacks on health professionals by relatives of patients are on the rise in the district, said the Association. Patients visting the district-based health institutes, seeking treatment had been affected due to the strike. Nnnn GERMAN AMBASSADOR’S FAREWELL CALL ON KOIRALA Kathmandu, 17 July; President of the Nepali Congress Sushil Koirala and German Ambassador to Nepal Grafin von Rodern have held discussions on the country's contemporary political issues at the former's residence at Maharajgunj, today [Tusday], RSS reports. During the meeting Rodern expressed commitments that Germany is always ready to support the development endeavors in Nepal, said President's personal aide Jeevan Dhakal after the meeting. The meeting was a farewell call on the NC President by Ambassador Rodern, added Dhakal.They held talks on the peace process, constitution writing and other contemporary issues, he said. The NC was committed to putting an end to the existing national political impasse and the political parties have already started discussions to that end, said Koirala. On the occasion, NC President Koirala expressed gratitude to the German support and cooperation being provided for the development of Nepal.Ambassador Rodern is returning home soon, completing his term, it is learnt. nnnn
