JANAJATIS CALL ALL-PARTY MEET Kathmandu, 3 Aug. The Indigenous Nationalities Joint Struggle Committee had called for resolving the disputed issue in the constitution making process and promulgating the new constitution by reinstating the Constituent Assembly (CA), RSS reports. The Committee also demanded that an all-party meeting be called to reinstate the CA and guarantee the special rights raised by the indigenous community. At a press conference here on Friday, the committee shared the decisions endorsed by one-day conference on 'Current Political Transition and Solution' held in the capital on Thursday. The Committee also suggested an alternative of forming a national consensus government if reinstatement of the CA was not possible. The meeting on Thursday concluded that, "The current need of the country is forging a political consensus to create an environment for new CA elections and the constitution writing." Chairman of the Committee Rajbhai Jakami stressed the need of organizing an all party meeting by recognizing the indigenous nationalities and thereby reinstating the CA from the same meeting. Parshuram Tamang, another indigenous community leader, claimed that the CA was dissolved due to syndicate of the major political parties and said it is better to reinstate the CA for a short term and promulgate the new constitution. CPN-Maoist leader Suresh Ale Magar said the nation should go for the federalism based on ethnic identity. nnnn
