THRE KILLED IN DABD, INCLUDING POLICE RESCUER Kathmandu, 3 Aug.: Three people including a head constable of armed police force, who had been deputed to save people from drowning, died in the flooded Rapti River on Friday, RSS reports from Dang.. Head constable Ram Bahadur Rana was mobilized from the Jwalamai Battalion in Bhaluwang to rescue people affected by the floods in Banghusri of Satabariya VDC. The other victims are Khairu Nisad (45) of Sihaniya VDC and Gyan Bahadur Pun of Gobadiya VDC, police said. Around a dozen villages in the Deukhuri region have been inundated following incessant rainfall since Thursday night. Meanwhile, floods in the Rapti river has crossed the danger level in Banke district putting people in Holia, Matehiya, Gangapur, Narainapur, Fattehpur and Laxmanpur VDCs at risk of being swept away. As a result the local administration has kept the rescue, relief and health groups and equipment on a 'ready' position, according to Chief District Officer, Dhundi Raj Pokharel. The construction of the Laxmanpur dam and embankment by the Indian side next to the Nepal-India border too has affected the natural flow of the Rapti River, and thereby putting at risk the lives of people living in more than a dozen VDCs in Bank district. RSS adds from Myagdi: A youth has gone missing while he was reportedly collecting timber from a flooded river in Darbang of Myagdi district on Friday. Amar Chhantyal (25) of Darbang bazaar went missing after he was swept away by the swelling Myagdi River, said Jit Bahadur KC, Police Sub-inspector at Area Police Office, Darbang. Similarly, two houses of local Kul Bahadur KC and Bhim Bahadur KC were collapsed in a landslide while other six families have been displaced in Arman VDC Ward No. 6 in the district, said Nagendra KC, a local resident. The displaced families have taken shelter in their neighbors' home. Meanwhile, in Jajarkot, the body of 40-year-old Khim Bahadur Rana who had gone missing at the local Holukhola in Jajarkot on Thursday, was found at the Bheri River at Khalanga Ward No.9 on Friday, said police. Likewise, the Nepalgunj town area has been water-logged with knee-high water levels in Bulbuliya, Bankegaon, Gharbaritole, Dhambojhi, Ganeshpur, Fultekra, Salyanibag, Gangangunj, Koreanpur, Bhrikutinagar areas. Due to lack of sufficient outlet for the rain water, many homes in the town area have also been inundated. The deceased has been identified as five-year-old Prabesh, son of Chandra Bahadur Sunar of Devisthan VDC, Ward No. 6 in the district. The flood in a channel at Dobilla-Falebas road had swept away the child at 12:00 noon and was found dead at Dharapani of the same VDC, according to the District Police Office, Parbat. Investigation into the case is underway, Chief of the District Police Office, Kedar Khanal said. Maldhunga-Beni road section has also been obstructed due to the floods. Long route and short route vehicles to and from Myagdi have been stranded following the road obstruction.
