UPDATE FORMER KING GETS TUMULTUOUS WELCOME IN SYANGJHA Kathmandu, 23 Sept.: Former King Gyanendra got a tumultuous and spontaneous welcome from people o Syangjha district he visited after 12 noon because of a bandh called by Maoists affiliated groups. He was greeted with khatas, flowers, garlands and slogans chanted in his favour. People asked him to return and save the country. The last king got down from his car and interacted with people along the Highway from Pokhara to Syangjha. He returned to his base in Pokhara late Sunday afternoon. OPPOSITION STUDENTS SUBMIT MEMORANDUM TO TU VICE-CHANCELLOR Kathmandu, 23 Sept.: Eleven opposition student groups Sunday submitted a 15-point demand to Tribhuvn Uuiversity (TU) Vice-chancellor Hira Bahadur Maharjan demanding a rollback in fees increased 10percent annually. The fees are the lowest in this part of the world and don’t meet administrative costs of the oldest university. The vice-chancellor received the demands personally.
