NSU DEMANDS 45 PERCENT CONCESSION Kathmandu, 9 Oct.: Nepal Students Union (NSU). student wing of main opposition, Tuesday resented a set of eight demands before the Office of Transportation Management. The body demanded 45 percent discount on public transport vehicles and asked stern action be taken against those misusing student ID cards. Nnnn INDIAN SSB HARASS NEPAIS RETURNING HOME Kathmandu, 9 Oct.:: Nepali workers returning home from India for Dashain festival are reportedly compelled to pay unnecessary charge to the Indian border security personnel, RSS reports from Attariya. It is learnt Nepali workers arriving home via Gaurifanta and Gaddachauki points in Kailali are forced to pay Rs. 300 and Rs. 500 each to the Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB) personnel. The SSB have been accused of raising arbitrary charges from Nepali workers. "I have brought some clothes and utensils for personal use from India, but SSB charged me Rs. 300 for bringing goods", complained Logi Saha of Doti. When enquired, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rana Bahadur Rayamajhi has said that no one has informed him about SSB high-handedness on Nepali workers. However, the Nepal Police could not look into the cases reported on Indian Territory, he added. Saha is just an example of SSB exploitation. Many Nepali workers arriving home for the upcoming festivals are forced to pay unnecessary charges to Indian border security forces. Nnnn FORMER SPEAKER NEMWANG CALLS FIOR END TO ALLIANCE POLITICS Kathmandu, 9 Oct.: Former Speaker Subas Nembang has urged the political parties to immediately stop forming alliance, RSS reports from Nuwakot.. Dialogue should be initiated to give outlet to the country by putting an end to the trend of forming alliances and indulging in the blame game, he said while closing a month-long nationwide campaign for eliminating caste-based discrimination and untouchability at Bidur in Nuwakot on Tuesday. Noting that the country is now in a state of vacuum, the former Speaker reiterated the need of the presence of Legislature-Parliament to cut through the standoff facing the country. Five couples who entered into inter-caste wedlock were feted on the occasion. A campaign of inter-caste marriage that started from Ilam on September 13 has come to an end here today. Collective Campaign for Peace (CoCaP) – an NGO based in Kathmandu – has spearheaded the campaign in collaboration with different 43 organisations. nnnn
