PRESIDENT CONSULTS NC, UML CHIEFS
Kathmandu, 5 Nov.: One day after President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav discussed current issues with Maoist chairman Prachanda, the ceremonial head of state discussed the same subjects separately with NC President Sushil Koirala and UML Chairman
Jhalanath Khanal Monday morning.
The president discussed a national budget for remaining eight months of the current fisyal year 2012/13, breaking a political and constitutional impasse and other issues.
Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai said government has run out of funds to pay monthly salary of even employees.
Parliament approved only a partial budget for the current fiscal year.
Government is preparing to announce a budget through ordinance even as the president told Prachanda, according to the Maoist boss, he won’t proclaim a budget without consensus with the opposition which has been pressuring Dr.Yadav not to give
his assent to budget ordinance.
Infuriated Maoists have been charging the head of state for attempts to topple government with help of unidentified foreigners and security agencies.
Opposition parties refused a government request to send representatives to assemble a budget.
Finance Ministr Barsha Man Pun discussed a budget Sunday with UML Chairman Khanal who didn’t lend support’
Pun is continuing a dialogue by discussing the budget with NC President Koirala
Monday.
A 21-party front lent full support to government Monday.
