CAPITAL GETS NEW POLICE CHIEF Kathmandu, 2 Dec.: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rana Bahadur Chand Wednesday was appointed chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range (MPR), Hanuman Dhoka. Chand succeeds Jaya Bahadur Chand was promoted to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) 19 December. Nnnn DHRUBE BACK IN MADI Kathmandu, 2 Jan.: Tusker terror has continued in Madi even after the local administration deployed Armed Police Force to avoid attacks from the wild, RSS reports from Chitwan elephant. A herd of wild elephants including 'Dhrube', a notorious wild elephant, had entered the settlements in Madi during the night hour daily at a time when the Park administration at the Chitwan National Park intensified the search of the 'Dhrube'. The wild elephants had destroyed two houses of local Ram Prasad Bhandari on Monday. They entered the settlement again on Tuesday night and destroyed the houses of local Lokraj Baral and Tulasi Paudel. The villagers saved their lives by running away. The local administration has deployed 20 APF personnel to provide security in Madi. Nnnn
