JOURNALIST MURDERERS CONVICTED, JAILED Kathmandu,.25 Feb.: : The District Court Jhapa has slapped a life sentence along with confiscation of all property on mastermind behind the murder of district-based journalist Yadav Poudel, RSS reports from Bhadrapur. A single bench of judge Girirajmani Gautam on Monday, convicted Yubraj Giri of mastermind behind the killing of journalist Poudel, handed down a decision to that end. Other accomplice in the murder—Phulamaya Karki alias Manju has been sentenced to three years in prison while Somnath Dhakal has been sentenced to one year and Madan Rai to six months. All the accused had been arrested by the police same day of the accident. Journalist Poudel was murdered near the Birtamod-based bus park on April 2, 2012 Nnnn ADB TO FUND POWER PROJECT Kathmandu, 25 Feb.: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is lending Nepal $150 million to develop a $500-million 140MW Seti River hydropower Plant, an announcement said. “To ensure steady supply even during the dry winter months of November through April, the plant will be fed from a 7.26 sq km reservoir, making it Nepal´s first major hydropower plant with water storage capacity and a sediment flushing system,” the statement added. The project will be co-funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the European Investment Bank, and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development. nnnn
