SHARE PRICES FALL Kathmandu, 17 April: Stock prices fell when market opened for trading Wednesday. Prices fell 2.82 points and index fell to 517/62 points. Commercial bank share prices dropped 1/66 percent. Nnnn SAARC EDUCATION MEET STARTS Kathmandu,, 17April : The eighth meeting of the committee of heads of University Grants Commission and equivalent bodies of SAARC countries began in the capital from Wednesday, RSS reports. The two-day meeting is participated in by heads and delegations of such commissions and organizations. The meeting will discuss on SAARC scholarship, university curriculum and economic condition and partnerships. Discussion will also be held on co work in grant commission activities. Inaugurating the meeting, Minister for Foreign and Home Affairs Madhav Ghimire urged for discussions on ending the tendency of brain drain from the SAARC countries. He said the backbone of economic development was quality education and added the quality education should be as per the demand of the market. Minister Ghimire said, as the target of the present government was to hold Constituent Assembly (CA) elections, the election date would be declared very soon. University Grant Commission Nepal Chairman Prof. Ganesh Man Gurung and Member Secretary Bholanath Pokhrel said the meeting would be important for making the university grants commission stronger. SAARC Secretary General Ahmed Saleem also called for making the SAARC scholarship more effective.
