CPN MAOIST CAPTURES SCHOOL Kathmandu, 18 May: The CPN-Maoist cadres have reportedly captured a boarding school in Khandbari, the district headquarters of Sankhuwasabha, RSS reports... The CPN-Maoist cadres seized the local Surya Boarding School that runs classes from Nursery to 10. Over 600 students are forced to stay home due to the CPN-Maoist move. Issuing a press statement Saturday, the party accused founder of school Narayan Shrestha of taking the school income to America, collecting excessive fees from students and exploiting the teachers. The school was established some 30 years back. Guardians, students and locals are concerned following the announcement of school capture. They met Chief District Office Bishnu Kumar Karki today and were assured that initiatives would be taken to open the school. Of total students, 141 are studying under the American scholarship. nnnn BUDDHA RELICS FOUND Kathmandu, 18 May:: Articles dating back to Lord Buddha's time have been found in course of an excavation at Devdaha, Rupandehi, which is believed to be important from historical, archeological, and tourism point of view, RSS reports from Butwal.. Mayadevi, mother of Lord Buddha, is believed to have born at Devdaha. The place is also said to be the capital of the then Koliya state. During the excavation at Bhawanipur and Panditpur, Devdaha, ancient well, dishes, jewelries, and statues among other materials were found, confirmed the Department of Archeology. The Department carried out the excavation for 15 days beginning from April 28. Spokesperson at the Department Ram Bahadur Kunwar, said besides these the team has found materials of ancient Kusha's and Mourya's time. In the excavation, archeological materials of the 11th Century were also discovered, he added. The Department has been carrying out excavation to find the location of Devdaha, the then capital of Kouliya state, for the last three years, said archeologist Prakash Darnal. Though different facts of the Budha's time were found through archeological researches carried out every year, it is yet to discover holding researches whether Bhawanipur or Panditpur was the capital of the Koliya state, archeologists said. Earlier in 1895, the ancient materials related to Lord Bouddha's time were found during the excavation in Lumbini and Tilaurakot, as the proofs of Gautam Buddha's birth place.
