EVEREST MARATHON BEGINS Kathmandu, 29 May: Altogether 131 runners will participate in the Everest marathon Wednesday fro the base camp of the 8848 meters high Mount Everest, the world’s tallest peak, and Namche Bazzat/ The 195km marathon is recognized as the world’s highest long distance race. The race this year is being held on the diamond year of the conquest by Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary. Nepalese have won all the 10 past marathons from base camp at 5300 meters to Namche situated at 3450 meters. Thirty-five Nepalese males are participating in the event. Christopher Geiger, a 72-year-old Swiss is the oldest participant and Monyean Foote,18, is the youngest from Australia. Nnnn . RCT P[AYS THREE STAR IN GURKHA CUP WEDNESDAY Kathmandu, 29 May: APF plays Deshbhakta Youth Clyb of Nawalparasi in the Gurkha Cup Wednesday at Dashrath Rangashala. RCT and Three Star Club meet in another match. Machindra was the first team to qualify for the quarterfinal Tuesday. nnnn .
