LEOPARD ENTERS HOUSE, DARTED Kathmandu, 14 May A female leopard that entered a house in Tikathali Tuesday was darted and taken to Central Zoo. The house owner sighted the cat in his living room sofa and informed authorities. Another female leopard was killed this month as it attacked and injured residents at Shipadole. Population of wild animals around the Valley is increasing with successful conservation efforts. But authoritative studies are yet to be conducted to ascertain reasons for frequent straying of wild animals into residential areas. Nnnn SCHOOLS IN NAWALPARASI FORCIBLY CLOSED DOWN Kathmandu, 14 May: Schools in Nawalparasi were forcibly closed down by student loyalists of CPN Maoists Tuesday. The students said their demand for closure of unregistered schools was ignored by district education office.
