FORMER PM BHATTARAI, BRITISH AMBASSADOR MEET Kathmandu, 7 June: British Ambassador to Nepal, Andy Sparkes, called on Vice-Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist) and former Prime Minister, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, on Friday, RSS rwports.. During the meeting held at Dr. Bhattarai´s residence at Sanepa, Lalitpur, today, they held consultations on UCPN (Maoist)´s role for the next Constituent Assembly (CA) and contemporary political situation, said Bishwadeep Pandey, personal aide to Vice-chairman Bhattarai. During the talks, Dr. Bhattarai told Sparkes the UCPN (Maoist) had been working with its full efforts to hold the CA election within November and that his party had sought positive support from international community in this regard. Similarly, Ambassador Sparkes said the election was a must for political stability and economic development and expressed his commitment that the British government would provide possible support for this task, said Pandey quoting Sparkes. Nnnn HLPC CONDEMNS POLICE ACTION Kathmandu, 7 June: The meeting of the High Level Political Committee held at New Baneshwor in the capital today, condemned police excesses in Kamlari agitation, RSS reports.. The former Kamlaris have been calling banda in 22 districts of the Terai region against the police excesses in the capital, a few days ago. The HLPC meeting also demanded action against the police officer and urged the government to address their demands, CPN-UML leader Raghuji Panta told journalists. Meanwhile, Senior leader of the CPN-UML and former Prime Minister, Madhav Kumar Nepal, said to journalists that the HLPC would held talks throughout the day, today, regarding the laws for the election process and other disputed issues and that they would reach to any conclusion by the end of the day.
