Bombing suspects handed over to India

Kathmandu, 6 Sept: Two suspects of the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts were delivered to India Friday by Nepal after their arrests in the capital one day earlier.
They were handed over without formal extradition proceedings.
Riyaz Khatri and Salim Ghazi were arrested Thursday; they lived in the capital incognito for nearly 12 years.
An international arrest warrants were issued against them.

President to announce govt. programme Wednesday

Kathmandu, 6 Sept. President Dr Ram Sharan Yadav will announce the Prachanda government’s policy and programme Wednesday at the CA.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda leaves for an official India visit four days later.

Congress leader shot dead

Kathmandu, 6 Sept: Nepali Congress leader from Siraha Birendra Mahoto who was shot and badly injured in the district died Friday of injuries as he was rushed to the capital for treatment.
He was shot Thursday.

Deputy prime minister visits army chief at his residence

Kathmandu, 6 Sept: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bamdeb Gautam Friday suddenly visited Chief of the Army Staff Gen Rukmangud Katawal at his official residence in Jhamsikhel, Kantipur reports.
The event is considered important as he went there from theofficial residence of the prime minister at Baluwatar.
Gautam rushed to army headquarters 10 minutes after driving to the army chief’s residence but immediately turned back from Thapathali to Jhamsikhel.
He stayed there late into the night after reaching there at seven in the evening.

GP Koirala active in politics

Kathmandu, 6 Sept: Former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, 85, has started taking active part in politics telling his close political aides to prepare a national awareness programme, Parshuram Kafle reports in Naya Patrika.
“He is active in politics. His movements are restricted only because of health reasons,” close aide Krishna Prasad Shitaula said.
Acting party president Sushil Koirala, deputy president Ram Chandra Paudel, central members Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, Shitaula, Dr Shekhar Koirala and Gobinda Raj Joshi are almost daily visitors
Koirala has rented a house at Maharajgunj.
Former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is not a frequent visitor.
Koirala expresses dissatisfaction with Maoists in his discussions with members of the kitchen cabinet as discussions are held on the government-led by Maoists.
The government’s activities and statements of Maoist leaders are analyzed regularly.
Koirala tells central leaders to go to the people united and with a clear vision in an organized manner.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Prachanda told reporters Friday unidentified elements are trying to topple the government as Koirala told said this week the government won’t last long.
