Threat of rebellion in Maoist PLA; leaders visit camps

Kathmandu, 12 Nov: Maoist PLA have threatened a rebellion without integration on their terms, Dhristi reports.
Maoist PLA has proposed to en masse integration in Nepal Army. In this connection, PLA Chief Nanda Kishore Pun Pasang has begun a visit of camps and cantonments of PLA.
Political leadership is working to prevent a threatened rebellion.
Peace Minister Janardhan Sharma Prabhakar has just returned after visiting a brigade in Surkhet.
According to PLA sources, they want to be established separately as a separate division in Nepal Army or a separate and independent security unit.
PLA units have threatened rebellion without integration of these two terms.
Nepal Army doesn’t want mass integration.
Chief of Army Staff Gen Rukmangud Katawal has made this clear to Prime Minister Prachanda and Defence Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal.
A message has been sent through retired generals and some Nepali Congress leaders of armed army rebellion if mass PLA integration is pushed.

In its strategic plan to capture state power, Maoists have
have adopted a flexible integration approach—integration in whatever form or formation of a separation unit.
Maoists believe favourable integration will help capture state power.

PM Prachanda leaving for India later Wednesday

Kathmandu, 12 Dec: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda leaves for India later Wednesday and will have talks with his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh Thursday on the sidelines of the summit of BIMSTEK in the Indian capital.
Prachanda and Singh are meeting for th second time in two months; Prachanda visited India is September after formal installation of a Maoist-led government formalization the capture of state power.
Maoists emerged from the jungle and their hideout in India in April after a bloody 11-year people’s war that claimed 13,000 lives.
The deaths haven’t been accounted for or probed.
In September, India agreed to work with a Maoist-led government.
Prachanda is visiting India after immediately satisfying main opposition Nepali Congress with his public commitment Tuesday to meet nine demands, including full implementation of past accords.
Congress called off threatened protests after Prachanda’s public commitments; Congress is waiting for the implementation of the latest comments, he party said.
The commitments have warded off an immediate crisis for the Maoist-led government.
