Curfew in Rautahat

Kathmandu, 6 June: An indefinite was slapped on Bishnupur VDC anf five other villages in Rautahat, the home district of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal Saturday following calashes with police and locals who protested the killing of a cow to celebrate a wedding of a Muslim family 19 May.
Five persons were injured in violent clashes Saturday as police resorted to firing in the air and teargas shelling.
Curfew was slapped after one in the afternoon.

Govt. preparing to appoint Lt Gen Kul Bahadur Khadka PM’s security advisor

Kathmandu, 6 June: In a controversial move, government is preparing to appoint Lt Kul Bahadur Khadka security advisor of the prime minister.
Defence minister Bidya Bhandari revealed this Saturday.
Nepal Army had started disciplinary action against Lt Gen Khadka appointed army chief by Maoists.
The move was preempted by President Dr Ram Baran Yadav who told Chief Gen Rukmangud Katawal to continue in office.

Forum burns effigies in PM Nepal, Bijaya Gachedhar

Kathmandu, 6 June: MJF Saturday burnt effigies of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachedhar at Naya Baneshwor in front of the party office.
A faction led by Chairman Upendra Yadhav charged Nepali Congress and CPN-UML for splitting the biggest terai party after the Gachedhar faction with 32 out of 53 seats in parliament decided to join the Nepal government.
The party has reached a splitting point.
Meanwhile, TMLP Chairman Mahanta Thakur decided Saturday to join the Nepal government.
He will announce a government soon.
Congress and CPN-UML haven’t reached agreement of portfolio sharing so far.
RPP central committee also decided to join government Saturday.
RPP is expected to get one ministerial birth for the first time after 2006 when eight parties, including Maoists dominated government.
Maoists are now out of government.

Parliament to probe Indian border incursions

Kathmandu, 6 June: A parliamentary team will visit Dang Monday to inspect alleged border incursions by India in Koilabas, Dang.
A 11-member team led by Padma Bishwakarma will make an on-the- site inspection.
Published reports denied by the Indian embassy said 6,000 persons have been displaced amid excesses of Indian personnel.
Parliament’s National Interest Protection Committee Saturday asked government to verify claims of intrusion.
CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal said Saturday incursions won’t be tolerated.
