No unanimity on state structure

Kathmandu, 1 Dec: There was no unanimity or majority on three proposals in a 42-member CA committee to determine model of government Tuesday in a new constitution.
The Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have 15 while Maoists have 18 members in the committee.
Congress and UPN-UML, Maoists and Nepal Sadbavana Party put three recommendations.
A nine-member task force has been formed how to resolve differences.
Maoists collected the most votes.
Without unanimity, a decision was taken to take a vote in the committee and approve recommendations by majority which was elusive.
Only eight of 11 subject committees on the CA have submitted suggestions over which there are differences.
Dates for submitting final recommendations have been rescheduled eight times and may have to rescheduled again.

Cabinet decides to hold dangerous meeting at Kalapattar

Kathmandu, 1 Dec: The cabinet Tuesday took a medically dangerous decision to hold a meeting at the foot of Kalapattar, a small peak next to the 8848meters Mount Everest, the world’s tallest peak, 4 December.
The government actually wanted to conduct the meeting at a higher altitude at the Everest base camp.
Security and medical preparations for the meeting have been completed.
Ministers, including Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, will fly Thursday from the capital for Lukla from they will be airlifted to the base camp for the meet for the meet Friday without acclimatizing to the rarefied air.
Without the acclimatization, ministers could develop fatal altitude sickness when water collects in the brain or lungs—a phenomenon known as brain or lung edema.
Former US President Jimmy Carter during his fist Nepal visit when Birendra was king had to be airlifted to the capital from the mountain after developing altitude sickness during a trek.
His secret service agents acclimatized.
The minister’s aren’t trekking but flying to Kalapattar.

Govt. allows seven hotels and lodges to operate in Chitwan

Kathmandu, 1 Dec: In a controversial decision, government Tuesday decided to allow seven hotels and lodges to operate inside the Chitwan National Park even after a long-term lease with them expired.
Government said they it will recover revenue dues before issuing new permits to operate for three years.
The hotels succeeded in lobbying amid concerns the resorts were endangering threatened wildlife species in the park like the rhino and the tiger.

Maoists vandalize five school buses

Kathmandu, 1 Dec: Maoists Tuesday vandalized five busies of private schools in Sunsari as they were proceeding to school.
Damage is estimated at hundreds of thousands of rupees.
Maoists charged schools for non-coperation.

This could cause them to grow less, flower less, and
maybe even die. Owning a regular lawn mower does not mean you have to give up on mulching your yard; you just have
