UML joint meeting starts
Kathmandu, 10 April: Amid public differences in the party, a joint meeting of the UML standing committee and party parliamentary meeting Saturday started investigations to pinpoint who started a campaign to call for the resignation Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal leading a coalition of 22 parties.
This was revealed by influential leader KP Sharma Oli.
Nepal is a former general secretary of the party.
The joint meeting is discussing the working of the government and its future as Maoists demand the formation of a national unity government under heir leadership to complete la peace process and promulgate a constitution within the 28 May deadline.
A Maoist friendly section in the party is pushing for the ouster of the Nepal government as the party leading the government has demanded pre-conditions from Maoists to form a government of national unity.

Khumbu locals oppose plans to scatter ashes of Girija, Edmund Hillary from atop Everest
Kathmandu, 10 April: Khumbu Nagarik Samaj has opposed plans to scatter ashes of former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and Edmund Hillary from atop Mount Everest, the 8838 meters high world’s tallest peak, this spring.
Mount Everest lies in the Khunbu region.
Buddhists mainly inhabit Khumbu area—the home of sherpas, the famed mountain climbers of the world.
Sherpas have helped put climbers atop the world’s tallest peaks.
Locals revere Everest as the abode God and said he scattering of ashes will bring bad luck.
Hillary climbed Everest for the first time in May 1953 with Tenzing Norgey Sherpa, the most famous Sherpa of Khumbu.

Polio drops being administered
Kathmandu, 10 April: Polio drops are being administered to 4.4 million children under five years nation-wide Saturday.
The country has been declared polio free but drops are being administered to prevent the recurrence of the disease which is still prevalent in neighbouring India.
The drops will be administered 15 May as well.

Five dead in Sunsari bus accident
Kathmandu, 10 April: Five persons died in a bus accident in Sunsari Saturday morning.
Sixteen seriously injured have been rushed to a Dharan hospital for treatment.
The bus veered 60 meters off the Mahendra Highway a 9.30 in the morning.

Kathmandu, 10 April: Bisket jatra begins in Bhaktapur Saturday amid heavy security.
The festival coincides with Nepali new year 2068 ends 18 April.

Journalist Bharat Bhurtel found dead
Kathmandu, 10 April: Journalist Bharat Bhurtel was found hanging from the ceiling of a toilet in a hotel in Pashupatinath temple complex Friday.
He apparently committed suicide.
He was writing a biography of President Dr Ram Baran Yadav.

Extension of UNMIN mandate suggested
Kathmandu, 10 April: As government contemplates ending the current mandate of UNMIN 15 May, parliament’s international and human rights committee has recommended the extension of its mandate Thursday.
Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal deposed before the committee Thursday.
UNMIN has come under fire from government for not being neutral with Defence Minister Bidya Bhandari calling it a Maoist ‘tail’.
Most recently, UNMIN refused to give government a headcount of Maoists in camps where 19,000 plus former combatants were placed.
The government asked for fresh count fearing many had deserted before thir official sendoff.
Government sought the details to distribute allowances to genuine combatants remaining in the camps.
UNMIN will find it difficult to work in Nepal even if its mandate is extended; its impartiality has been questioned.
The government has come under heavy pressure from western countries to extend the mandate even as a visiting senior UN official threatened to withdraw after 15 May.
UNMIN’s activities are funded by western countries, especially member states of EU.
Its only role now is to keep a watch over 3,000 plus Maoist weapons in containers in 28 camps and cantonments with the keys in the hands of former rebels.
UMNIN says it can’t police the illegal activities of Maoists, like murder, in the camps.
The mandate of ONHCR-Nepal also ends 9 June with government officials reluctant to extend the mandate further.
Danish Minister for Development Cooperation Friday asked Prime Minister Nepal to extend the mandate of OHCHR-Nepal.
Nepal is perhaps one of few countries in the world where so many UN agencies operate at a single time.

The Extension of UNMIN will be worthless, because the intention of UNMIN is very suspicious in Nepal.From the very beginning, Nepal is respectfully following the objectives of UN. May be the UN, as an organization, is working for peace in Nepal. But, at present, Nepalese people are confused by the suspicious activities of UNMIN (UN representatives). As we all know that, the main objective of UNMIN is to establish peace in Nepal, but in the contrary what we have here is "The Team of Representatives-UNMIN" who has been found exercising against the peace process in Nepal. We are totally puzzled, whether UNMIN is here to establish peace or confuse people. We really don't understand, "What is the interest of UNMIN in Nepal?" Why UNMIN is instigating civil war in Nepal?
Nepalese people had expected that the UN's role would be impartial. But the UN could not remain neutral. The UNMIN listens only to the Maoist rebels and the corrupt leaders of the so-called big party totally disregarded the aspiration of majority of the Nepalese people. From the very beginning, UNMIN has been demoralizing Nepal Army and supporting Maoist and its rebel by allowing them to keep the weapons with them in the cantonment and let them start the youth force (YCL), who can be the law and order itself as they used to do during their revolution.
Nowhere in the world, would a country be able to protect its sovereignty by making the national army weak and powerless? The national army can't compare with Maoist's army. Now, in Nepal, we have two kinds of army- the national army and the Maoist's army. Can we imagine two kinds of army in a country? Why UNMIN is not responsible for the overall management and supervision of Maoist army and their movement? It is the matter of grief for all. The intention of UN and its Org. UNMIN is to destroy all the identities of Hindus & Buddhists with the help of Maoist's army. So, we are feeling, the Virus of UNMIN is more dangerous than Swine flu.
As Nepal is a sovereign country, Nepalese army is free to do anything for the country. Let all Nepalese (all over the world), Unite and Protest against the action of UNMIN in order to protect the sovereignty, democracy and identity of Nepal. Nepalese people don't tolerate foreign intervention to our domestic affairs. So, there is not necessary UNMIN and its suggestions in Nepal.
The PM Madhab nepal is visionless abd not responsible for the country. If he wants to extend the time of UNMIN, he would be guided by the foreigners who want to destroy all the identities of Nepal. So, UNMIN is not necessary in Nepal.
