Kathmandu, 9 Jan.: Election for prime minister will beheld in parliament 12 January.
Election will be held at two in the afternoon Wednesday, Speaker Subash Nemwang said.
Nearly 200 lawmakers weren’t present at Sunday’s opening session.
Wednesday’s election will be the 17th attempt to elect Nepal’s successor.
Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has been a caretaker after resigning
resigning 30 June 2010.

PM NEPAL SUMMONED BY PARLIAMENT COMMITTEE
Kathmandu, 9 Jan. Parliament’s international relations and human rights committee has summoned Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal to depose on impending withdrawal of UNMIN from Nepal.
The committee took the decision Sunday.

CA MEETS TUESDAY
Kathmandu, 9 Jan.: The constituent assembly (CA) will meet Tuesdy after a prolonged recess.

RPP-NEPAL NATIONAL AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
Kathmandu, 9 Jan.: RPP-Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa Sunday kicked off a one-month nation-wide national awareness campaign for peace, constitution drafting and democracy by releasing a pair of pigeons in the capital.
The party has been demanding fresh elections as, the party claims, a constitution can’t be promulgated by the constituent assembly by the second 28 May deadline.
The party also threatened an indefinite strike from 14 April if there’s no outlet to the current political deadlock.
Thapa said the Karin Landgren report to the UN security council was ‘based on reality’.

POLICE CLEAR RING ROAD
Kathmandu, 9 Jan. Police early Sunday morning began a campaign to demolish illegal houses and hutments to clear the ring road amid protests at Balkumari in Lalitpur.
Authorities are attempting to build a greenbelt around the
capital by removing unauthorized construction.
