INDIAN CONTRACT IDENTIFIED AS MANMEET SINGH

SLC EXAMS BEGIN

Kathmandu, 24 March: This year’s SLC examinations began at eight in the morning.
Altogether 500,005 students are appearing for the tests at 1,672 centers.

BRITISH DEFENCE MINISTER ARRIVING

Kathmandu, 24 March: British Minister for Defence Personnel, Welfare and Veterans Andrew Robathan arrives Thursday for a week-long visit.
Nepal has military ties with Great Britain which has been recruiting Gurkhas in its army from 1815.
India also recruits Nepal’s Gurkhas into its army through a treaty.

INDIAN CONTRACT KILLER REAL IDENTITY REVEALED

Kathmandu, 24 March: An Indian contract killer who attempted to shoot dead Yunis Ansari at the high security Central Jail in the capital on 10 March is Manmeet Singh from Bareilly, Utter Pradesh and not Jasjeeet Singh, police said.
The actual identity was verified through further investigation and exchange of information with Indian police, SSP Hamenta Malla Thakuri said.
The assassin was earlier identified by his voter identity card.
Singh is in police judicial custody as charges are being prepared.
He has already been charge for illegal possession of weapons but could be charged for a more serious charge of attempted murder.
Nobody has claimed responsibility for the attempted murder
although Indian criminal gangs claimed responsibility for the murders
of RPP lawmaker Mirza Ali Beg and media tycoon Jamin Shah in thee
capital.
Ansari is in jail for possession of illegal drugs and dealing in fake Indian currency.
An Indian gang also failed in to kill Ansari last year in the capital.
Three other Indians were also involved in the murder attempt, police said..
They are: Ahamed Khan, Arvinda Kumar and Amar Singh.
Nine Nepali suspects have arrested.

INDIAN LEGISLATORS COMING

Kathmandu, 24 March: A group of 11 Indian lawmakers of Lok Sabha, the lower house, is arriving 26 March for discussions with leaders and their counterparts.
The Indian parliamentarians will discuss dynamics of Nepal-India
ties, the Indian embassy said.

CHINESE VICE-PRESIDENT INVITED

Kathmandu, 24 March: Chinese Vice-president Xi Jinping has been invited to pay a visit at an acceptable date.
Vice-president Parmananda Jha extended the invitation Tuesday through the foreign ministry.

TASK FORCE FOR INTEGRATION OF MAOIST FIGHTERS BEGINS WORK

Kathmandu, 24 March: A four-member task force of four parties to
recommend modality for the integration and rehabilitation of 19,000 plus former combatants began work Thursday.
A report has to be completed in three days.
The process has been delayed.
Non-Maoist parties said a constitution can’s be promulgated until integration and resettlement of the former fighters.
Parties charge Maoists aren’t interested in integrating their fighters.
