ANOTHER SHOOTING DEATH IN CAPITAL

Kathmandu, 10 April: Another trader was shot and killed in a shooting
incident in the capital Sunday evening.
Leather trader Anjani Kumar succumbed to bullet injuries at nine in the evening while undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital for bullet injuries.
He died two hours after being shot by two persons, according to eyewitnesses, at
at an ally in Ganabahal in front of Golcha House, the Kathmandu office
the residence of the family of Golcha , the country’s leading industry and trading family.
One person with Shripadi Trading was shot and killed while another was
injured in a shooting incident at Teku .

Arms are flowing freely in the capital emerging as a crime capital in South

DEUBA FACTION BOYCOTTS NC CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEET (UPDATE)

Kathmandu, 10 April: The faction of three-time
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba boycotted Sunday’s NC
central committee meet after establishment led by Sushil Koirala
proposed dissolution of Nepal Students’ ad Nepal Women’s Organization
affiliated with the main opposition.
Koirala has been ineffective in running the party after election four
months ago.
His nominations of office bearers haven’t been
endorsed by the central committee where Koirala and Deuba are
represented almost equally by elected members.

MAOISTS THRASH ONE DOZEN LOCLS AROUND THIRD
BRIGADE IN CHITWAN

Kathmandu, 10 April: Former Maoist fighters with the 3rd Brigade at
Shaktikhor in Chitwan Sunday thrashed 12 locals, three seriously,
at Jutepani..
One house was damaged in an attack.
Locals protested the conversion of a football ground into a cricket field.
Maoist former fighters are lodged in camps for nearly four years and
often come into conflict with locals..
Maoists are paid monthly through government and EU dole from four
member states of the Union.
Effort to assimilate them into state security agencies and
society haven’t borne results so far.

KAVRE LIGHTNING (UPDATE)

Kathmandu 10 April: At least 33 persons were injured by lightning, three seriously, at three points in Kavre Sunday.
Earlier reports put injuries at 20.

ARMY CHIEF RETURNS

Kathmandu, 10 April: Army Chief Gen. Chatraman Singh Gurung returned home Sunday from the USA Sunday.
He held discussions with UN officials in New York and top US military
brass and State Department officials in Washington..

CHAITE DASAIN BEING CELEBRATED MONDAY

Kathmandu, 10 April: Chaite Dasain is being observed Monday.
The religious festival is marked with lesser fervour than Bada Dasain in
autumn.
